Berglund supplies power for thrilling Rockies win
July 12, 2005 - Pioneer League (PL)
Casper Ghosts News Release
Monday night the Casper Rockies moved back to .500 on the season with a come from behind 6-3 win, in 12 innings, over Great Falls. The White Sox scored in the first and held a slim lead over the Rockies all night until Chris Cook tied the score at 3-3 in the sixth. Cook also chipped in with his fifth home run of the season in the 4th inning.
The pitching was great for both clubs, with the starters Alan Johnson of Casper and Paul Moviel of Great Falls outdueling each other for the front five innings. The two bullpens then kept each offense in check until the 12th inning.
Kyle Blumenthal singled with one out, followed by another single from Cole Garner. Then, with two out in the 12th, Rockies right fielder Bret Berglund tagged a Nick Lemon pitch over the right field wall for a walk-off, three-run home run.
The win puts Casper at 10-10 and drops the White Sox to 7-12. The two teams hook up again at 7:05 on Tuesday night for the second of the four-game set.
