Fort Worth Cats News Release

Fort Worth Cats' first baseman David Bergin hit a two-out, walk-off home run in the 11th inning of Wednesday night's game against the Edinburg Roadrunners to give the Cats the 2-1 victory.

Fort Worth (39-26) trailed 1-0 heading into the ninth inning with the only run coming on a throwing error by catcher Chris Christopoulos.

Shortstop Ryan Miller drove in second baseman Josh Band to tie the game with one out in the ninth.

Bergin's blast in the 11th was his 13th of the season, which is the highest on the team and in the United League.

Cats' starter Cole Stephens earned a no decision, going eight innings and allowing no earned runs on seven hits and seven strikeouts.

Stephen Nikonchik came on in relief of Stephens in the ninth. He worked out of trouble in the 10th and 11th innings and earned the win.

Home plate umpire Trent Robinson ejected Edinburg manager Ozzie Canseco, twin brother of former Fort Worth Cat Jose Canseco, in the ninth inning for arguing a called ball four to Band.

The Cats and Roadrunners (33-32) square off again on Thursday, with the first pitch coming at 7:05 p.m. at historic LaGrave Field.

Tickets to all home game can be purchased by calling (817) 332-CATS or by going online to FWCats.com.
