Sioux Falls, SD-The United States Hockey League (USHL) announced on Monday that Mikhail Berdin (ME-cale BIRD-in) has been named CCM Co-Goaltender of the Week. This marks the second time this season he has earned the honors.

Berdin earned the award after going 1-0-1 over the weekend, stopping 78 of 81 shots while posting a 1.48 goals-against-average (GAA) and a .963 save percentage. On Friday, he stopped 38 of 41 shots, including 18 in the first period, while helping the Herd secure a point in a 3-2 overtime loss to the Lincoln Stars at the PREMIER Center. On Sunday, he turned aside 20 shots in the third period and all 40 shots overall in a 6-0 victory over the Waterloo Black Hawks.

The Ufa, Russia native is 4-2-1 in his last six starts with a 1.85 GAA and a .943 save percentage and two shutouts. He was selected in the 6th round of the 2016 NHL Draft by the Winnipeg Jets and spent the early fall in their development camp prior to joining the Stampede. Last season, Berdin appeared in 22 games for Team Russia U18, posting a 2.07 GAA and a.928 save percentage.

Berdin and the Stampede are off this week for the USHL holiday break, but return to action on Friday, December 30th at Fargo. The Herd return home on Saturday, December 31st for a special 6:05 PM faceoff against the Fargo Force at the PREMIER Center. Fans are encouraged to bring their skates to the game and skate with their favorite Stampede players at the conclusion of the game.
