USHL Players of the Week

The United States Hockey League announced the CCM Forward, Defenseman and Goaltender of the Week for Week 13 of the 2016-17 season. Fargo Force forward Jack Adams scored two goals and added three assists to take the lead in the USHL scoring race. Team USA defenseman Quinn Hughes racked up five assists on the weekend, while goaltenders Mikhail Berdin of the Sioux Falls Stampede and Derek Schaedig of the Lincoln Stars only gave up three goals each on the weekend. Berdin made 78 saves, including a 40-save shutout on Sunday, while Schaedig won both of his starts over the weekend to start his USHL career with a perfect 4-0-0-0 record. CCM Hockey is the official equipment provider of the USHL.

Forward: Jack Adams - Fargo Force

2 GP: 2 goals, 3 assists, +2 rating

Adams tallied a goal and two assists on Friday night before scoring once and added one assist on Saturday. With those five points, Adams now has 31 points (18G, 13A) on the season and has taken the top spot in the USHL scoring race. The Union College commit has registered at least one point in 17 of the 21 games he has played this season. Adams is in his second season in the USHL and has 55 points (26G, 29A) in 75 games. The Boxford, MA native has also been selected to the USHL/NHL Top Prospects Game in both of his seasons in the league. He previously played for Malden Catholic (USHS) and was selected by Fargo in the fifth round, 69th overall of the 2015 USHL Phase II Draft.

Defenseman: Quinn Hughes - Team USA

2 GP: 0 goals, 5 assists, -1 rating

Hughes helped lead Team USA to a pair of wins over the Madison Capitols. He dished out one assist on Friday night before tallying four helpers on Saturday night. It is the third time in his USHL career and second time this season the Orlando, FL native has been named CCM/USHL Defenseman of the Week. Hughes now has six assists in his last three games and also tallied five assists on Nov. 23 en route to his first Defenseman of the Week honor this season. He has 14 points (1G, 13A) this season to lead all Team USA players in USHL action. In his USHL career, the University of Michigan commit has 25 points (5G, 20A) in 45 games. Prior to his USHL career, Hughes played for the St. Michael's Buzzers (OJHL) and Toronto Marlboros (GTMMHL).

Co-Goaltender: Mikhail Berdin - Sioux Falls Stampede

1-0-1-0, 1.48 GAA, .963 SV%

Berdin stopped 38 of the 41 shots he faced in an overtime loss on Friday before stopping all 40 shots he faced on Saturday for his second shutout of the season. He has won four of his last six starts and currently sports a 2.83 GAA and .923 SV% this season. The Ufa, RUS native is in his first USHL season and holds a record of 7-6-1-0 in 14 appearances. He is ninth in the USHL with that .923 SV% and has made at least 35 saves in seven of his 14 appearances. Prior to playing in Sioux Falls, Berdin played for Team Russia U18, Almaz Cherepovets (Russia) and Severstal Cherepovets U17 (Russia). He was a sixth round pick, 157th overall of the Winnipeg Jets in the 2016 NHL Draft.

Co-Goaltender: Derek Schaedig, Lincoln Stars

2-0-0-0, 1.48 GAA, .950 SV%

Schaedig moved his USHL record to 4-0-0-0 in his first four starts with a 31-save performance on Friday night and a 26-save outing on Saturday. Both of those efforts resulted in Lincoln stretching their winning streak to six straight games. In those four appearances, Schaedig sports a 1.74 GAA and .942 SV%. He is serving an as international replacement for Cayden Primeau, who won a gold medal with Team USA at the World Junior A Challenge. Schaedig is a native of Chelsea, MI. Schaedig plays for the Janesville Jets (NAHL) and sports 3.08 GAA and .903 SV% in 16 appearances. He also spent time with Chelsea High (USHS) prior to his junior hockey career.
