Mini-Camp opens Wednesday

(BUFFALO, NY) - After having one of the most productive off-seasons of any Arena Football League team, the Buffalo Destroyers are ready to show off all their new faces as they begin their quest to ArenaBowl XVI.

Mini-camp opens on Wednesday, March 20 at the Destroyers Amherst Practice Facility with the first practice for the 40-man roster at 10:15 AM. The team's first media day will be Wednesday, March 20th. All practices are open to the public and to the media.

"My coaching staff has been working very hard and can't wait to see that work pay off with the arrival of the team this week," said Destroyers Head Coach and General Manager Ray Bentley. "We are chomping at the bit to get the 2002 campaign rolling."

Some of the new faces for the Destroyers include QB Fred McNair, two-time "Don't Blink" Player of the Year OS Lamont Cooper, WR/LB Bret Cooper and FB/LB Jason Bratton. Among the returnees are WR/DB Carlos James, WR/DB Kevin Mason and OL/DL Jerry Crafts.

The Destroyers open their pre-season schedule Saturday, March 30 as they travel to the Palace at Auburn Hills to meet the Detroit Fury. The Destroyers are home at the HSBC Arena Thursday, April 11 as they host the ArenaBowl Champion Grand Rapids Rampage at 7:30 PM.

The Destroyers open the regular season at the HSBC Arena Friday, April 19, welcoming the New Jersey Gladiators at 7:30 PM.
