
Bend Elks win in walk-off fashion; defeat Kitsap Blue Jackets 10-9.

The Kitsap Blue Jackets took the lead in the top of the 9th inning off of Elks reliever Jordan Spencer, but the Elks answered back with 2 runs in the bottom of the 9th, giving the Elks the walk-off win vs. the Kitsap Blue Jackets by a score of 10-9.
The Bend Elks were in control early on in the game behind the quality pitching of Brent Jones, who got the no-decision, but was very good. Jones pitched 7 and 2/3 innings, giving up 5 runs, all earned, on 9 hits, walking three and striking out 5.
The Kitsap Blue Jackets trailed the Bend Elks 8-3 after 6 innings, but scored three runs in the top of the 8th to chase Jones out of the game, but trailed the Elks 8-6 heading to the top of the 9th. In the top of the 9th, 2 singles, an error by Steven Halcomb, and a 2 run double from Scotty Burcham gave the Kitsap Blue Jackets the lead. Josh McAlister came on to strike out Jake Gallaway in relief of Jordan Spencer in the 9th, and McAlister would eventually be credited with the win.
In the bottom of the 9th inning, after getting a 1 out pinch hit single from Jake Azevedo and Tommy Pluschkell drew a walk, the Elks had runners on 1st and 2nd when Zane Yanzick had a deep fly out to left field for the 2nd out of the inning. Cullen Hendrickson drew a 4 pitch walk to load the bases, and Darian Ramage and Steven Halcomb followed with back to back RBI singles for the tying and go ahead runs in the game.
Elks keep their slim playoff hopes alive heading to Cowlitz County, Washington on Tuesday vs. the Cowlitz Black Bears, first pitch at 6:35. The Elks will be in non-league action at home vs. the NW Star Academy on $2 Tuesday, first pitch also at 6:35.
