
Bellefeuille joins Alouettes

Montreal, Jan. 6, 2006 - Montreal Alouettes' Vice President and General Manager Jim Popp and Head Coach Don Matthews announced today that Marcel Bellefeuille will join the Alouettes as an assistant coach working with receivers and running backs.
Bellefeuille joins the Alouettes after five years with the Saskatchewan Roughriders, including the last three as offensive coordinator. Bellefeuille's offence established itself with the league's best running game, gaining over 7,000 yards over the last three seasons. The Riders dominated the ground game under Bellefeuille, finishing first in the league in 2003, 2004 and 2005.
Before joining the Roughriders, Bellefeuille had a successful three-year tenure as head coach of the University of Ottawa's football program. Bellefeuille's Gee Gees won the 2000 Vanier Cup a year after he was named the 1999 OQIFC Coach of the Year.
The 2006 edition of the Alouettes' coaching staff will consist of Co-Offensive Coordinators Kevin Strasser (passing game) and Steve McAdoo (running game), Defensive Coordinator Chris Jones, Special Teams and Defensive Backs Coach Noel Thorpe and Bellefeuille. Other announcements will follow.
