
Bees Win Second Straight Over Road Warriors

(New Britain, CT) - The New Britain Bees (2-6) defeated the Road Warriors (2-6) 7-1 at New Britain Stadium on Saturday night in the second of a three-game weekend series in the Hardware City.
New Britain starting pitcher Mark Hamburger (1-0) picked up the win after giving up just one run on five hits in eight innings on the mound, walking one, striking out three and hitting a batter. Road Warriors starting pitcher David Perez (0-2) suffered the loss, allowing four runs on seven hits in five innings of work, walking three and striking out seven while tossing a wild pitch.
The Bees took an immediate 2-0 lead in the home half of the first inning on an RBI double off the bat of Reid Brignac and a run-scoring single produced by Jonathan Galvez. New Britain added an insurance run in the bottom of the fourth for a 3-0 cushion when James Skelton drove home Jamar Walton with a single. The boys from the Nutmeg State made it 4-0 in their favor in the bottom of the fifth on an RBI groundout by Brignac, his third run driven home in the last two contests. The Bees broke the game open in the bottom of the eighth with three more runs on four hits giving the game its final score of 7-4, highlighted by an opposite-field run-scoring double off the wall in right field by Vinny Siena, his first hit in a Bees uniform, and an RBI single by Darren Ford. New Britain concludes their home opening weekend series with the Road Warriors in the Hardware City on Sunday, May 6th. First pitch is scheduled for 1:35 P.M. After the game, kids can take the field and run the bases!
