Bees Take Series vs. Revolution, Win Finale 3-2

(New Britain, CT.) Another one-run game, another win for the New Britain Bees as they took the final game of the three-game series 3-2 against the York Revolution.

New Haven native Josh Zeid turned in his second straight strong start, tossing six innings and allowing just two runs. The right-hander also tied his season-high in strikeouts with seven (including punching out the first five batters of the game) while picking up his second win of the season. The trio of Jarret Leverett, Shawn Gilblair, and Craig Stem finished off the game with three perfect innings out of the bullpen, helping the Bees lower their league best team ERA even further to 3.11.
The Bees' offense did all of its scoring in the middle innings of the game, getting to Revolution starter Kelvin De La Cruz for the first time in three games against him this season. Anthony Hewitt drove home the Bees' first run of the game in the fourth inning with a single to tie the game at one. After York had reclaimed the lead in the fifth, the Bees took the lead back for good in the bottom half of the inning on a two out, bases loaded single by Jonathan Roof that brought home two and knocked De La Cruz out of the game.
After an off day tomorrow, the Bees will welcome the Lancaster Barnstormers to New Britain Stadium on Tuesday night to open a three-game series.
