Salt Lake Bees News Release
The Salt Lake Bees scored three runs in the top of the 11th inning and held on for a 5-4 win over the Omaha Storm Chasers on Friday night. Josh Thole opened the 11th at second as the automatic runner and advanced to third on a single to left by Jo Adell.
Taylor Ward walked to load the bases before Justin Bour delivered a two run single to put Salt Lake in front. Michael Hermosillo followed with a sacrifice fly to give the Bees a 5-2 lead. Omaha came back with two runs in the bottom of the 11th and had the potential tying run at third and winning run at first when Sam Freeman induced Adam Moore into a game ending double play.
Freeman (1-1) tossed three scoreless innings with a pair of strikeouts to pick up his first win of the season. Omaha had the winning run at third with one out in the tenth, but Freeman got a strikeout and a fly out to escape the inning. Jarrett Parker led off the third inning with his 22nd home run of the season to give the Bees a 1-0 lead, but the Storm Chasers took a 2-1 lead in the fifth on back to back bases loaded walks. Hermosillo led off the seventh with fifth homer of the series to tie the game at 2-2. Bour and Hermosillo led Salt Lake with two hits and two runs batted in, as the Bees take the series two games to one. Starter Drew Hutchison went four and two-third innings in his Bees' debut and allowed two runs on two hits with seven strikeouts and Matt Ball pitched three and one-third scoreless innings in relief.
