Salt Lake Bees News Release
The Salt Lake Bees came from behind to edge the Sacramento River Cats 3-2 on Saturday night.
Down 2-1 in the sixth inning, the Bees took advantage of Sacramento wildness to tie the game. Taylor Ward walked to lead off the inning. Two outs later, Steven Okert came out of the bullpen and proceeded to walk Dustin Ackley, Nolan Fontana and Francisco Arcia with the base on balls to Arcia forcing in the game tying run. Jared Walsh led off the eighth with a double to right field and scored the eventual winning run on a ground ball single to center by Kaleb Cowart.
The Salt Lake bullpen of Akeel Morris, Connor Lillis-White and Ryan Clark combined for four and one-third scoreless innings. Lillis-White (1-0) earned the win, as he went two and one-third innings and allowed no hits with four strikeouts and one walk. Clark gave up a leadoff walk in the ninth inning, but retired the next three batters to record his third save of the season and the second in as many nights. Starter Jose Suarez worked four and two-third innings and gave up two runs on five hits with six strikeouts and two walks. Cowart led the Bees with three hits, including a triple, and one run batted in, while Luis Rengifo added a pair of infield singles. The victory clinches the Bees' first series win since they took four out of five at Tacoma May 30-June 3.
