Bees Sign OF Jones, East Hartford Native Rosa

(New Britain, Conn.) - New Britain team officials today announced that the club has signed outfielder Jon Jones and corner infielder/outfielder Jovan Rosa for the 2016 season.

The 5'11", 185 lbs. Jones spent last season with the Gary SouthShore RailCats, batting .314 with 22 doubles and 19 stolen bases. The 26-year old outfielder was originally drafted by the Toronto Blue Jays in the 29th round of the 2010 MLB Amateur Draft, spending 5 season in Toronto's system. A native of Vacaville, California, the right-handed hitting and fielding Jones has seen action at all three outfield positions, primarily playing center field.

Born in Santurce, Puerto Rico, the 28-year old Rosa graduated from East Hartford High School in 2005, and was drafted out of Florida Gateway College by the Chicago Cubs in the 2006 MLB Amateur Draft. After spending 4 seasons with the Cubs organization, the 6' 3", 225 lbs. Rosa split time between the Bridgeport Bluefish and the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs last season, combining for a batting average of .261 with nine home runs, 21 doubles, and 55 RBIs in 102 games played.
