New Britain Bees News Release
New Britain, CT - When the New Britain Bees return home this weekend from their six-game road trip, fans will not only get to see their favorite Bees' players back in action, but they will also get to participate in and enjoy several special events at New Britain Stadium. Here is a look at what the Bees have in store for fans of all ages this weekend:
FRIDAY NIGHT, MAY 13TH, 6:35 PM
The weekend series versus the in-state rival Bridgeport Bluefish will begin with a bang. The first of seven dazzling postgame pyrotechnic shows during the season takes place shortly after the final out.
Because it's Friday the 13th, the Bees will also be hosting Halloween in May, where fans are encouraged to show up in their scariest and spookiest Halloween costumes. And if you don't come out to the ballpark in costume, we'll be providing really scary masks in the form of manager Stan Cliburn Face Fans to the first 1,000 fans in attendance!
SATURDAY NIGHT, MAY 14TH, 6:35 PM
To help celebrate Polish Heritage Night, local favorite Baltic Restaurant will be serving up traditional Polish food; the Joel Rogers Trio, well known in the local Polish community, will fill New Britain Stadium with classic Polka tunes throughout the night; ceremonial first pitches will be thrown by local Polish dignitaries; and the Polish national anthem will also be performed.
"The Polish community has a very long tradition with baseball in the City of New Britian and we're thrilled to celebrate that in New Britain Stadium," said Patrick Day, New Britain Bees General Manager.
SUNDAY AFTERNOON, MAY 15TH, 1:35 PM
Sunday afternoon's game will be jam-packed with special events at New Britain Stadium. Like with every Sunday home game all season long, it will be Hardware City Family Fun Day, where fans will have the chance to get autographs from their favorite Bees on field prior to the start of the game, and kids can run the bases following the final out.
In addition to Hardware City Family Fun Day, the New Britain Bees and River Valley Wealth Management partner up to host Children's Book Afternoon & Children's Book Drive to benefit Berlin-Peck Library. A staple of Berlin since 1829, Berlin-Peck Library lost nearly 800 children's books to severe water damage due to the bursting of a frozen pipe in February. All fans are encouraged to bring books to donate to the library.
"Following this unfortunate incident, the New Britain Bees want to do our part in the community to help this local library refill its shelves with children's books," said General Manager Patrick Day.
To buy tickets for this weekend, or for any game during the season, fans can print tickets at home by visiting NBBees.com, call the Bees' box office at 860-826-2337 ext. 129, or visit the box office at New Britain Stadium from 9 AM to 5 PM Monday through Friday and Saturday from 10 AM to 2 PM.
