
Bees Even Series With T-Rats

Appleton, WI (May 6, 2009) - The Burlington Bees evened up a three-game series with Wisconsin by defeating the Timber Rattlers 6-2 Wednesday night. Kelvin Herrera made his 2009 debut pitching five scoreless innings to pick up the win.
The Bees got on the board first by scoring two runs in the second inning. Nick Francis led the inning off with a single and then David Wood walked. Salvador Perez grounded out, which moved both runners up a base. With two outs, Antonio Jimenez reached on a two-base error, which scored both Francis and Wood and the Bees led 2-0.
The Bees put up another run in the fifth inning. Patrick Norris led the inning off with a single and then moved to second on a Fernando Garcia ground-out. Norris moved to third on a wild-pitch before scoring on a Sean McCauley ground-out, which gave the Bees a 3-0 lead.
In the top of the sixth, the Bees broke the game open by scoring three runs. David Wood led the inning off with a double and then scored when Salvador Perez doubled. Wilson Tucker then reached on an error. A wild pitch then moved both Perez and Tucker up a base. Antonio Jimenez then hit the third double of the inning to score both Wood and Perez and the Bees then led 6-0. Wisconsin did score two runs in the seventh inning.
Kelvin Herrera made the start for the Bees, which was also his first appearance of the season after being brought up from extended spring training. He picked up the win pitching five innings scattering just three hits with one strikeout and no walks. Justin Garcia pitched three innings allowing two runs on two hits. Both hits that he allowed were solo homeruns. Barry Bowden pitched a scoreless ninth to finish out the game.
The Bees had seven hits in the game but no one had more than one. Antonio Jimenez, with his two RBI, was the only Bee with multiple RBI.
The Bees will conclude the series with Wisconsin on Thursday night. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35. Zach Peterson is the scheduled starter. The game can be heard on News-Radio 1490 KBUR and online at www.GoBees.com. The Bees will return to Community Field for a ten-game home stand beginning Saturday, May 16.
