
Beef re-sign running back R.J. Rollins

Omaha, NE - Running back R.J. Rollins will return to the Omaha Beef, professional indoor football team, for his third season in 2008.
In his first season, 2006; Rollins led the Beef with 829 rushing yards and 17 touchdowns. The 829 yards led the UIF. In addition to his rushing exploits, he was second on the team in receiving with 33 catches for 293 yards and seven touchdowns. Rollins also returned 22 kicks for 458 yards and two touchdowns. Defensively, he contributed five tackles. For his efforts, Rollins was named the UIF's Offensive Rookie of the Year
Rollins, a native of Anchorage, Alaska, played his college football at The University of Minnesota-Crookston for the Golden Eagles. He is the school's career leader in rushing attempts (584) and rushing yards (3,043). Rollins is tied with other players for the most rushing touchdowns (29) and most touchdowns in a game (five on two occurrences). He also has the second-longest punt return for a touchdown in a game with an 85-yard return in 2005.
Head Coach Steve Warren is excited to have Rollins back for 2008.
"R.J. is a shifty back," Warren said. "He's a make-you-miss type of player who brings flair to his position."
Rollins and the rest of the Omaha Beef will begin their ninth season in professional indoor football in March 2008. All home games will be played at the Omaha Civic Auditorium. The Beef are a member of the United Indoor Football Association, the premier indoor football league in America.
