Beef Lose to the Liberty
The Beef move to 1-4 as they lost their fourth straight game on the road at Salina behind the arm and legs of quarterback Derrick Bernard who accounted for nine touchdowns. Omaha came into this game down several players on offense and it showed with some players having to play on both sides of the ball.
The Beef received the ball and drove it down the field with Anthony Iannotti capping the drive with with a 1-yard touchdown run. After the liberty responded with a touchdown of their own, Iannotti threw back to back interceptions with the first being return for a touchdown by Salina's Isaiah Barfield. The Liberty went on to score on their next two offensive possessions. With six seconds left in the second quarter, the Beef were able to kick a field goal before halftime to bring the deficit to 18 (35-17).
In the second half, the Liberty scored on their first drive, but the Beef continued to fight after Iannotti scored another touchdown on the ground. Everytime the Beef scored, the Liberty responded with a score of their own. Omaha just couldn't get the stop that they needed to change the momentum of the game and put a little pressure on Salina. The Beef were able to get one last score with 2:14 left in the fourth quarter with a 20-yard pass to Daniel McKinney, but it was too late as the Liberty won the game 69-43.
The Beef get to come back home April 20th at 7:05 for a two game home stand starting with the Kansas City Phantoms who they lost to on the road 62-61.
