Omaha Beef News Release
The Omaha Beef get back to their winning ways with an important win against the Kansas City Phantoms 47-41. Anthony Iannotti led the offense with six total touchdowns (3-running and 3-passing) and Chris Perry added two interceptions returning one for a touchdown for the defense.
Kansas City jumped on Omaha early scoring on their first two drives and taking the lead 13-0. The Beef were able to respond behind the poise of Iannotti in the pocket, as he scrambled just enough to find Cameron Hall for a 19-yard touchdown. Donovan Portiere ended up leading the Phantoms in the first quarter going 7-10 (70%) 99-yards and 3 touchdowns as they took a 19-7 lead going into the second quarter. The Beef took command of the second quarter with back to back interceptions by Perry, with him returning one 48-yards for a touchdown. At 28-19, the Beef had all the momentum and the fans were fully engaged. A touchdown toss to Skyler Scott with six seconds left until halftime gave Omaha a 34-31 lead going into halftime.
Coaching Adjustment on defense for both teams was the difference in the second half. After an impressive offensive display in the first half, the defenses only allowed at total of 23-points for both teams. The Beef defense turned it up to the next level allowing 10-points and adding another interception by league leader Paul Dodson (5). With a thriving defense that played inspired after all the talk about the #1 passing offense and an offense that didn't commit any turnovers, the Beef were able to win the first of two home games with the coming to the Slaughterhouse next Saturday.
