Omaha Beef News Release

The Omaha Beef today announced the signing of 7 arena/indoor veteran players as the foundation, to build the upcoming 2007 season upon. Returning to the Beef for another season are 2005 and 2006 1st Team ALL-UIF offensive lineman Dan Potmesil, 2006 1st Team All-UIF and Offensive Rookie of the Year running back R.J Rollins, former UNO standout running back Jamar Day, and speedy wide receiver Micah Arnold. Three newcomers to the Beef this season but arena football veterans are Offensive/Defensive lineman Reggie Poole, wide receiver/kick returner Lawrence Pullen, and wide receiver Covell Crosby.

Potmesil (6'5 350) will enter his 8th season with the Beef. " I look forward to having "Pots" on our O-line. He has been a model of consistency throughout his years with the Beef and consistent play by the O-line is a must. Players like "Pots" make my job easier." states Miller.

Rollins (6'0 195) will enter his 2nd season with the Beef. "I expect even bigger things from R.J this season. In just about any sport, especially this game, a player makes the most strides and gains from year 1 to year 2. Now you add experience to his natural abilities and talent, he will be that much more of a force this season." states Miller.

Day (5'11 225) will enter his 2nd season with the Beef. " I was really impressed with the size and speed that Jamar possesses and the skill he displayed the short time he was here last season. Combined with R.J he gives us a dynamic1-2 punch at running back and we will have a special package to get both players on the field at the same time." states Miller.

Arnold (6'1 185) will enter his 2nd season with the Beef. " One of Micah's strongest attributes is something that you can not teach and that is speed. He can flat out fly. You combine that speed with a good understanding of our offensive system, Micah can be a big time player in the U.I.F this season." states Miller

Poole (6'3 330) will enter his 1st season with the Beef. " Reggie was a member of the Kansas City Brigade and Georgia Force of the AFL last season. After the completion of the AFL season, Reggie played in the AF2 and was the starting center for the 2006 AF2 runner-up and American Conference Champions Green Bay Blizzard. Reggie is the type of player and leader, every coach must have on his team." states Miller.

Pullen (5'8 185) will enter his 1st season with the Beef. "Pullen aka "Shorty" will be a fan favorite this season. Pullen is and was a special teams record holder in the AF2 for his return (kick-off and missed field goal) prowess. He is also a very elusive and shifty receiver who packs a lot of punch and heart into his 5'8 muscular frame. He will be a double threat for us this season." states Miller.

Crosby (5'11 192) will enter his 1st season with the Beef. Crosby was also a member of the 2006 AF2 runner-up and American Conference Champions Green Bay Blizzard. " Covell was a player that I had in Green Bay before I left for Kansas City. He combines good speed, size, physical play, and can jump out the gym. He has a tremendous work ethic and brings his hard hat to work everyday." states Miller.

Player Personnel Director Rod Miller states, " In my years of Arena football, I have learned to develop and institute a 4 step phase to building a quality ball club. Today we have accomplished two of them. First, you must be able to retain key players and contributors from the previous season, which we have done. Secondly, you must be able to add solid and experienced veteran players to the mix, which we also have done today.
