DALLAS (March 21, 2006) --- When native Texan and 11-year veteran Clint Dolezel signed with the Dallas Desperados last off-season, those in the know around the AFL instantly pegged Dallas as a title contender. Clearly, they knew what they were talking about.

Dolezel capped a spectacular first half of 2006 on Sunday by tying his own AFL single-game record with 11 touchdown passes in leading Dallas to a resounding 87-62 victory over the Orlando Predators.

For his bigger-than-Texas performance, Dolezel has earned Beckett.com's AFL Collectible Player of the Week nod for Week 8. The win was the Desperados' fourth in a row - and third straight on the road - and gave them the league's best record (7-1) at the midway point. For his part, Dolezel has made a serious case for Offensive Player of the Year honors through eight weeks.

Over a full season, Dolezel's staggering statistical line so far - including 56 touchdown passes (to just three interceptions) and 2,430 yards passing - projects out to 112 touchdown passes and 4,860 yards, both of which would be AFL single-season records.
