Danbury Trashers News Release

DANBURY, CT--David Beauregard led the UHL last season with 47 goals and he showed again why he is a top scorer with a hat trick before a crowd of 1,849 at the Danbury Ice Arena on Sunday night as the Roanoke Valley Vipers topped the Trashers 4-3.

The Vipers didn't play the last two nights because of ice issues at home, while the Trashers returned home following a physical road win against Adirondack last night, and the fresher legs of the Vipers showed early and late. Beauregard's first goal came at the 1:29 mark of the first period from Mark Scott and Petr Jelinek on the power play.

Jeff Daw's first goal of the year for the Trashers tied the score at 1-1 as he scored unassisted at the 10:34 mark following several exciting moves towards the net. Alex Goupil then netted his 5th of the season at the 1:20 mark of the second period to give Danbury a 2-1 lead.

Danbury's lead was short lived as the Vipers scored a pair of goals 1:23 apart from Jelinek and Beauregard to give the Vipers a 3-2 lead. However, the Trashers tied the score at 3-3 with just three seconds remaining in the period as David Hymovitz netted his 3rd of the year.

Beauregard's hat trick goal came at the 6:03 mark from Scott to provide the only score of the period. The game ended amidst a sea of penalties as with six seconds remaining there was a scrum and fight behind Roanoke's net. A combined 22 minutes were handed out, including penalties on the Roanoke goaltender Shawn Conschafter for leaving the net to join a scrum, while Brad Wingfield was issued a match penalty.

Sly Daigle stopped 25 of 29 shots in the loss as he played three games in three nights for the second straight week, while Conschafter stopped 22 of 25 for Roanoke's third win of the season. The Trashers fall to 4-3-1 with games in Muskegon on Friday and Kalamazoo on Saturday.

The Trashers return home on Friday November 18th against the Elmira Jackals. Tickets are available at DanburyTrashers.com or in person at the Danbury Ice Arena. Call 866-565-PUCK for more information.
