Roanoke Valley Vipers News Release
DANBURY, CT - The Roanoke Valley Vipers, member of the United Hockey League (UHL), racked up a huge win and added two in the points column Sunday night in Danbury as David Beauregard scored a hattrick to overcome the Trashers.
The Vipers got solid play throughout the match from Beauregard's line, which consisted of his near-constant linemate Mark Scott, along with combinations of Petr Jelinek, Alex Jerofejevs, Matt Kenny, Jim Quilty, Branslav Kvetan, Rico Fatticci, and Jan Jas. Beauregard got the Vipers on the board quickly with a power play goal just 1:29 into the first period on assists from Scott and Jelinek. The Trashers responded with two of their own, the second coming just over a minute into the second period.
Roanoke's offensive line, led by Beauregard, Scott, and Jelinek, evened the score for the Vipers just two minutes and 17 seconds later with a goal off the stick of Jelinek. Beauregard, having been fed the puck from Jelinek and Scott, followed with his second power play goal of the match after just another minute and 23 seconds had elapsed on the clock. Danbury battled back with three seconds remaining in the period to tie the score once again.
The Trashers would get to see the Scott-Beauregard combination once more at 6:03 of the third period as "Bo" made the hattrick official and gave the Vipers the final lead. Roanoke saw solid play in front of the net from Shawn Conschafter, who earned his first win of the season on Sunday. Conschafter was brilliant throughout the match, looking especially strong and making several key saves in the third period as the Trashers kept the pressure on.
The Vipers' record improves to 3-3-0 (6 points) with Sunday's win. They will return to the Roanoke Valley for a four-game homestand beginning Wednesday against the Elmira Jackals at 7:05p.m. The Adirondack Frostbite will come to town to play two on Friday and Saturday, and the Jackals will return for a rematch on Sunday.
