
Beast to Add Former Brampton Battalion Jason Dale and Two Others to Roster

BRAMPTON, ON - At an event held at Oscar's Roadhouse Bar and Grill Monday Night, Beast players and fans gathered for the Thanksgiving Feast with the Beast in support of Tyler Donati's 'Points for Cancer' foundation. During the event, Head Coach Brent Hughes announced the signing of Elgin Reid, Trevor Cann, and Jason Dale.
Reid made his professional debut with the Elmira Jackals of the ECHL in 2007/08 after completing his junior career with the Windsor Spitfires. The Milton native has appeared in 307 games in the ECHL where he has 54 goals, 129 assists and 359 penalty minutes. The 6'0" 181 lbs. defenseman has also played 14 games in the AHL for the Albany River Rats and Houston Aeros.
Reid, who has played in the past with fellow defenseman Phil Oreskovic, decided to play for the Brampton Beast this season to be closer to his wife and family. "After talking with Brent Hughes about the upcoming season, I like the direction that the team is heading in," said the new signee.
Following Reid's announcement, Coach Hughes introduced Trevor Cann as his second goalie signing of the season. The 5'11" 198 lbs. goalie was drafted 49 thoverall in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft by the Colorado Avalanche. The Oakville native is an OHL Champion winning the J. Ross Robertson Cup as a rookie with the Peterborough Petes in 2006. Cann made his professional debut with the Lake Erie Monsters of the AHL during the 2009/10 season appearing in 13 games.
Cann, who is looking to contribute with consistent play and be a leader at the back end, making saves when needed has played in all three minor hockey leagues (CHL, ECHL, AHL) spending his last season with the Florida Everblades of the ECHL where he appeared in 29 games recording a 15-10-1 record with 4 shutouts and a 0.893 save percentage.
Hughes announced his final signing of the night as former Brampton Battalion, Jason Dale. The 5'11" 192 lbs. forward played three seasons with the Brampton Battalion from 2006-2009 where he had 93 points (34G, 59A) in 185 games. The Toronto native made his professional career debut with the Utah Grizzlies of the ECHL in 2009/10.
When as ked what made him decide to come to the Brampton Beast, Dale said, "I've played here before. I loved every second of it in Brampton and having the opportunity to come back and play in front of family and friends is something I look forward to." Dale has played with former Battalion and current Beast players, Stephon Throne and Phil Oreskovic during his time in Brampton.
Dale has appeared in 128 CHL games where he has recorded 91 points (34G, 57A) and 91 penalty minutes. Dale was apart of the 2010/11 CHL All-Star Game and captained the 2011/12 Bloomington Blaze of the CHL. Spending his last season in the ECHL, Dale has played 124 ECHL games with 57 points (22G, 35A) and 53 penalty minutes.
