Beast Continue to Thrive in the Community

On Friday, June 13 th the Brampton Beast Hockey Club attended Brampton and Caledon's Relay for Life. The Relay for Life is an inspirational and non-competitive, 12-hour overnight fundraising event that bring the people of Brampton/Caledon together to celebrate life and fight cancer. The team mascot, Boomer, helped start the night assisting with the opening ceremonies, which included the first lap of the track, dedicated to Cancer survivors who led the way. Beast staff was out in support of the cause and even brought the infamous - 15 foot Beast inflatable. There was also a Brampton Beast penalty box where participants could pay to put someone in a box until their time was up, all money from the penalty box was donated to the Canadian Cancer Society. The final total of the event isn't final but the event raised over $132,000 just from online donations. Relay for Life takes place in 20 countries worldwide, including over 500 communities across Canada.

The Beast also attended the City of Brampton's Celebration of Sport last Wednesday, which was an event promoting five different afterschool programs that engaged kids in different sports. Central Hockey League Man of the Year Cal Wild was at the hockey station teaching kids basic hockey fundamentals. Following this event, the Beast attended Homestead Public School's Bike and Safety Rodeo. The Beast came out to support bike safety and the importance of wearing a helmet. On Saturday, Beast staff along with Cal Wild and coaching staff attended CeleBrampton, one of Brampton's largest events of the summer. The Brampton Beast also marched in the Flower City Parade.
