
Bears Sign Forward Austin Fyten to AHL Contract

HERSHEY, Pa. - The Hershey Bears announced today that the club has signed forward Austin Fyten to a one-year contract for the 2015-16 season. The announcement was made by Bears president/general manager Doug Yingst.
The 24-year-old Fyten is coming off of his first full year in the AHL, dressing in 64 games with the Lehigh Valley Phantoms in 2014-15. Fyten produced 11 points (two goals, nine assists) along with 85 penalty minutes.
The 6-1, 190-pound native of Sundre, Alberta split the 2013-14 season with the AHL's Oklahoma City Barons and the ECHL's Idaho Steelheads. He notched 20 points (seven goals, 13 assists) with the Barons in 47 regular-season games. He has a total of 33 points (nine goals, 24 assists) in 122 career AHL games with Texas, Oklahoma City and Lehigh Valley. In the ECHL, Fyten has recorded 56 points (23 goals, 33 assists) in 61 games, all with Idaho.
Prior to turning pro, Fyten played junior hockey with the WHL's Lethbridge Hurricanes and Vancouver Giants, posting 122 points (55 goals, 67 assists) in 194 career games.
