Berkshire Black Bears News Release


PITTSFIELD-The Berkshire Black Bears and BCAC (Berkshire Community Action Council) will team up Wednesday night, June 19, 2002, at Wahconah Park to offer $1 off the price of a Grandstand ticket in exchange for a canned good. The Berkshire Black Bears have provided BCAC with Grandstand tickets that can be purchased in advance at the BCAC office. BCAC will be collecting canned goods to supplement their food pantry that serves residents throughout Berkshire County.

BCAC is a multi-services human service organization that has been serving Berkshire County for over 35 years. Its mission is to assist low-income persons and households out of poverty and into self-sufficiency. BCAC operates a variety of assistance programs including Emergency Fuel Assistance, Day Care Transportation, employment and training for DMR clients, Energy Conservation programs, Our Friends House Homeless Family Shelter, Holiday Elf programs, Rulers for Schoolers, the Car Ownership program and Food Pantries.

"Tickets for this game will cost $4 if purchased in advance from a BCAC employee or at the gate on Wednesday night with the donation of a canned good", said Curt Preisser, Assistant General Manager. "The Berkshire Black Bears have quickly become an active part of the Berkshire County community raising funds for numerous organizations, this is our latest effort and we are happy to do it."

The game on Wednesday night will pit the Berkshire Black Bears against the Brockton Rox.
