Bowie, Md. - A three-run first inning was all the offense that the Bowie Baysox (14-18) needed to defeat the Erie SeaWolves (20-13) Friday night at Prince George's Stadium.

The Baysox collected five singles in the first inning to jump out to a 3-0 lead. Caleb Joseph put the Baysox on the board with an RBI single through the hole at short to score Xavier Avery. After Henry Urrutia singled to load the bases with one out, Ty Kelly lined a single to left field to drive in Buck Britton and Joseph, giving the Baysox a 3-0 lead.

Erie scored their lone run of the game in the fourth inning. Tyler Collins and James McCann each hit a single with one out to set up James Robbins. Collins would score from third on a ground out to first by Robbins to make the score 3-1.

Bowie matched the run in the bottom of the half of the fourth inning. Urrutia hit a leadoff double to left field and scored on a one-out single to left by Luis Martinez.

Buck Britton completed the scoring in the fifth inning with a solo home run to right field, giving Bowie a 5-1 lead.

The Erie offense could not muster much against starter Mike Wright (4-0) or reliever Jason Gurka. Wright pitched six innings, giving up five hits, allowing a run and striking out six batters. Gurka earned his second save of the season with three scoreless innings, striking out five.

Matt Crouse (3-2) took the loss for Erie in his third spot start, as he tossed five innings. The SeaWolves bullpen was solid as Tyler Clark and David Kopp combined for three innings of scoreless relief. McCann led the way for Erie with a 3-for-4 night, collecting a pair of singles and a double.

The SeaWolves will try to get back on the winning track tomorrow against the Baysox in a 6:35 p.m. start. Victor Larez (5-0) will look to earn his league-leading sixth win of the season against Bowie righty Kevin Gausman. Listen to all the action on SeaWolves.com or Fox Sports Radio AM 1330 The Fan.
