ERIE, PA - The Erie BayHawks (18-20), NBA G League affiliate of the Atlanta Hawks Basketball Club, took down the Capital City Go-Go (21-18), 110-104, tonight inside Erie Insurance Arena.
Craig Sword poured in a career-high tying 23 points on 8-12 (.667) shooting from the floor, including a 3-6 (.500) mark from deep, to go along with five rebounds, two assists, a game-high tying three steals and two blocks in 33.1 minutes of play. Cat Barber dished out a career-high 12 assists, in addition to 14 points, seven rebounds and two steals in 40.1 minutes. Atlanta Hawks two-way forward Alex Poythress posted his 15th 20+ point game of the season (16 games played), tallying 24 points, a game-high 11 rebounds, two steals and a career-high tying five blocks in 36.0 minutes of play.
Washington Wizards two-way forward Jordan McRae poured in a game-high 31 points, to go along with six rebounds, a team-high six assists and a game-high tying three steals in 40.2 minutes. Pe'Shon Howard notched 24 points on 8-16 (.500) shooting from the field, including a 5-7 (.714) clip from three-point territory, two assists and a game-high tying three steals in 36.0 minutes. Duje Dukan contributed 11 points, a team-high tying nine rebounds and one block in 32.3 minutes as a reserve.
Capital City gained a double-digit lead, 24-13, off of a Pe'Shon Howard triple at the 3:27 mark of the opening frame. Heading into the second quarter, the Go-Go held a 33-19 lead. Cat Barber went coast-to-coast to bring Erie within five points, 51-46, with 2:17 left to play in the first half. After two quarters of action, Capital City notched a seven-point, 59-52, advantage.
Craig Sword buried a three-pointer to give Erie a 64-61 lead at the 8:02 mark of the third quarter, erasing an 18-point deficit. Heading into the final frame, the BayHawks held an 81-78 lead. Erie would outscore Capital City 29-26 in the fourth quarter, on its way to a 110-104 victory.
Erie will hit the road for a two-game road trip facing off against Southeast Division rivals Capital City (Feb. 28) and Lakeland (March 3). The BayHawks will be back home on Tuesday, March 5 against the reigning NBA G League Champion Austin Spurs.
