Erie BayHawks News Release
Erie, Pennsylvania - The Erie BayHawks returned home from a four-game road trip to square off against the Fort Wayne Mad Ants on Friday night. Following a hot start, the BayHawks cooled off and eventually fell to Fort Wayne, 107-96.
Erie (12-10) started the game on a 16-2 run before Fort Wayne (12-13) battled back and took a one point lead into the second quarter. The Mad Ants maintained control of the game in the second stanza and went into halftime with a 60-51 advantage.
Fort Wayne grew it's lead to 17 by the end of the third frame due in large part to Luke Harangody's 10 points and seven rebound third period effort. In the fourth quarter, the Mad Ants held their largest lead of the game as Anthony Harris knocked down a jumper to put Fort Wayne ahead by 21. The BayHawks were able to cut the final deficit to 11 as they fell 107-96.
Erie's Henry Sims led all scorers with a season-high 30 points and 8 rebounds. D.J. Kennedy chipped in with 24 points and a season-high 16 rebounds. Fort Wayne was paced by Harangody's 29 points and 17 rebounds while Tony Mitchell scored 23 for the Mad Ants.
The BayHawks and Mad Ants will play once again on Sunday at 2 PM at the Erie Insurance Arena. Sunday will serve as the Erie's Perry 200 celebration day and will be highlighted by a halftime pageant presented by local school children.
