BayBears Rout Biscuits to Even Series

MONTGOMERY, AL -- The Mobile BayBears (44-29) evened their five game series against the Montgomery Biscuits (37-37) with a 12-6 rout of the home team at Riverwalk Stadium Sunday night. With the BayBears win, the two teams have now split the first four games of the series setting up the rubber match up Monday evening in the series finale.
Mobile fell behind when Montgomery posted two runs in the bottom of the first but they BayBears posted four runs in the top of the second to claim a 4-2 lead. Dustin Martin led off the inning with a solo home run and Sean Jamieson gave Mobile the advantage with a three-run double. After Evan Marzilli drove in another run in the top of the fourth on a RBI single, and Martin placed a RBI single to center, Mobile's lead grew to 6-2.
Montgomery would pull back within two, posting two runs in the bottom of the fifth inning but the BayBears opened their lead again the next half inning posting four runs in the top of the sixth. Mobile added another run in the seventh on a Jon Griffin solo homer to center and capped their scoring with another run in the top of the eighth.
In all, Mobile posted the 12 runs on 17 hits. Marzilli finished with four hits in five at bats. Martin went 3-for-5 with three RBI and a total of seven BayBears finished with multiple hits. Both Jamieson and Tom Belza recorded base knocks to extend their respective hitting streaks. Belza has an active 11-game hitting streak while Jamieson has hit safely in nine straight contests.
with a double, then a wild pitch by BayBears RHP Charles Brewer (3-2) moved Hager to third. After a strikeout, Cameron Seitzer hit a ground ball to short that was deflected by Lamb, the third baseman and the infield single allowed Hager to score.
RHP Mike Lee (5-3) earned his second win in his last three starts. They righty pitched 5.2 innings, allowing five runs, four earned on six hits while walking two and striking out six. RHP Angel Sanchez (0-9) was credited with the loss. Sanchez surrounded five runs on six hits, walking one and striking out two in 4.0 innings.
Mobile and Montgomery conclude the five-game series with the finale Monday night. First pitch at Riverwalk Stadium is scheduled for 7:05 PM. The Biscuits will send RHP Roberto Gomez (2-4, 5.82) to the mound. RHP A.J. Schugel (3-1, 3.80) will take the hill for the BayBears.
After the BayBears finish their road trip in Montgomery, Mobile will return to Hank Aaron Stadium for a five games series against the Jacksonville Suns starting on June 24, at 7:05 PM.
