MOBILE, Ala. - For the second consecutive night, the BayBears reached double digits in runs and hits as they blew past the Mississippi Braves, 10-4, on Saturday night at Hank Aaron Stadium.

Earning their eighth straight win and 12th in the last 13 games, the BayBears (51-36, 13-4) picked up their 1,000th victory in franchise history. They also scored six first-inning runs for the second ballgame in a row as they jumped out to an early advantage.

Trailing 2-0 in the bottom of the first, Adam Eaton immediately cut the deficit in half as he punched an opposite-field home run to left off Kenshin Kawakami (2-4). A.J. Pollock and Ryan Wheeler followed with doubles as Pollock scored to tie the game at 2-2. Wheeler crossed the dish when Marc Krauss cranked a two-run homer to put the BayBears up by a pair.

Taylor Harbin kept the rally going with an infield single. Kyle Greene smashed a knock to left while Jake Elmore's sac fly scored Harbin. Even pitcher Tom Layne (2-0) joined the fracas as he ripped a double off the wall in right to bring home Greene.

Layne tamed the M-Braves (33-54, 8-9) over seven innings as he surrendered three runs on seven hits. Mississippi had the initial lead in the first as Donell Linares hit a bouncer to third, scoring Tyler Pastornicky. Ernesto Mejia followed with a run-scoring single and later homered in the seventh.

The BayBears fell one shy of a league record with 12 extra-base hits in the ballgame. Dan Kaczrowski did set a franchise mark with his ninth pinch-hit of the season, breaking the standard set by Bobby Scales in 2002.

The BayBears battle the M-Braves again on Sunday night at 6:05 with right-hander Wes Roemer (6-4) starting against fellow righty Randall Delgado (5-4). Kids can play catch on the field before the game and run the bases after. For tickets, which start at $5 for kids and $7 for adults, please call (251) 479-BEAR or visit www.mobilebaybears.com.
