Northwest Arkansas Naturals News Release

SPRINGDALE, AR - The Kansas City Royals announced Wednesday that left-hander Buddy Baumann has been activated from the seven-day disabled list prior to the Naturals' game in Frisco.

Baumann, 23, has appeared in 17 games for the Naturals this season, making eight starts and representing the Naturals in this year's Texas League All-Star Game. He is 3-2 with a 4.08 ERA at Double-A this season, striking out 54 batters while walking 26 in 57 1/3 innings of work. Baumann began the season working out of the Naturals' bullpen before moving to the rotation. He has posted a 2.75 ERA while working out of the rotation, allowing two runs or fewer in all but one of his starts.

A resident of Billings, Mo., Baumann last pitched for the Naturals on Jun. 26 against the Arkansas Travelers. He left that start after just two innings and was placed on the disabled list on Jul. 28. In the last week, Baumann made a pair of rehab starts for the Royals' Arizona League affiliate, recording nine strikeouts in just 4 2/3 innings pitched.

Baumann was selected by the Royals in the seventh round of the 2009 draft out of Missouri State. The southpaw spent the entire 2010 season with Advanced-A Wilmington, where he posted a 4-2 record and a 2.24 ERA in 31 games (14 starts).

After the roster move, the Naturals' roster now stands at the Texas League limit of 24 active players.

The Northwest Arkansas Naturals are the Double-A Texas League affiliate of the Kansas City Royals and play at state-of-the-art Arvest Ballpark, located in Springdale. Visit our website, nwanaturals.com, for information on season tickets and ticket plans.
