St. Louis Battlehawks News Release
EARTH CITY, Mo. - The St. Louis BattleHawks officially named Jordan Ta'amu their starting quarterback Wednesday.
After a competitive battle over Minicamp and Training Camp that at one point saw four QBs vying for the job, the Ole Miss product came out on top and will be starting under center when the team opens up in Dallas against the Renegades.
"He's shown the progess we were looking for," said head coach Jonathan Hayes. "He's earned the right to be the guy to start the season. To me, Chuck [Long] and the offensive staff, it was the right decision to make and the best decision for this football team to allow us to move forward."
Ta'amu is excited to get started.
"I got a taste of it in Houston," he said. "I'm ready to go out there and start playing again."
No stranger to an uptempo style of play, Ta'amu is prepared for the offense that his coaching staff has crafted. "I've always loved no-huddles and have been a part of Air Raid offenses, so I'm excited to get this show on the road."
With the XFL rules that include a 25-second play clock and a running game clock, Ta'amu says fans need to be ready for fireworks.
"We're excited to give them a show," he said. "It's going to high-scoring, high-flying. It's going to move fast, and hopefully fans are excited about it, because we are."
