Battle of bullpens taken by JetHawks

VISALIA – The Oaks turned two inning-ending double plays from the seventh inning on and ended the tenth inning with an outfield assist at home plate, but Lancaster finally broke through with two runs in the top of the twelfth to beat the Oaks, 3-1.

Oaks starter Zack Parker matched Lancaster pitcher Scott Barber by throwing seven innings with five hits and one run allowed. Ryan Speier pitched two scoreless innings to help send the game past the ninth and Jase Wrigley pitched two scoreless innings, despite allowing four hits.

Tony Miller threw home from centerfield to nab Josh Kroeger trying to score from second on a single by Jamie Jones. Catcher Jeff Winchester blocked the plate with his foot then applied the tag to end the tenth.

Dan Phillips drove in the Oaks only run of the game with a single in the bottom of the ninth to score Brian Barre.

Lancaster's third inning run scored on a single by Dan Uggla. Mayobanex Santana had doubled with one out and come home on the hit.

Sergio Santos singled to right field in the top of the twelfth to drive in Marland Williams from second and give Lancaster a 2-1 advantage. Kroeger scored later on a ground out by Jones that made the JetHawk lead 3-1.

Extra Innings have been tough on the Oaks this season. All four extra inning games have been at home and the Oaks are 1-3. This was the longest of the extra inning affairs (12 innings).
