CHARLESTON -- Homegrown Battery defender Shawn Ferguson earned his second 2015 start on a USL Team of the Week Tuesday after a panel of league soccer writers voted him onto the Week 20 squad's three-man back line.

Center back Ferguson was stout and solid Saturday as Charleston shut out FC Montreal in a fiercely played 0-0 draw that extended the Battery's home USL unbeaten streak at MUSC Health Stadium to 21 matches, by far the longest active streak in the league.

For the second week in a row, a goalkeeper who faced the Battery was picked as the Goalkeeper of the Week. Andre Rawls of Toronto FC II earned the distinction last week, with Maxime Crepeau of Montreal winning it this time. Rawls had eight saves in TFC II's 1-0 win on July 24, while Crepeau recorded six on Saturday, including a full-extension penalty-kick save in the first half.

Charleston out-shot Montreal 22-12 in the draw, with seven of them on goal. Ferguson, the Battery's top aerial threat, produced two of those shots, forcing Crepeau into one of his saves. Ferguson is a 6-4, 200-pound product of Northwestern High School in Rock Hill and the College of Charleston. Now in his third season with the Battery, Ferguson has established himself as one of the top defenders in USL, and leads Charleston in starts and minutes played. He has chipped in two goals and an assist this season off set pieces.

This is Ferguson's second appearance on a 2015 TotW. He is one of 11 Battery players to have been named as a TotW starter this season.
