Charleston, SC. The Charleston Battery welcomes the reigning league champion Seattle Sounders to Blackbaud Stadium this Thursday for a 7:30 PM match. Seattle defeated the Richmond Kickers in the 2005 USL First Division championship game to win last years championship; the Sounders third title but first since the 1996 season.
Charleston (2-2-2, 8 points, 9th position) enters the game on the back of a 3-2 loss versus long-time rival the Atlanta Silverbacks in game played in Atlanta last Saturday night. Midfielder Stephen Armstrong tallied both goals for the Battery in the game.
Seattle (2-3-3, 9 points, 8th position) suffered a 3-1 loss at the hands of the Portland Timbers in its last outing; Seattle midfielder Zach Scott scored Seattle's lone goal.
In 2005 Charleston split a two-game series with the Sounders losing 1-0 in Seattle then defeating the Sounders 2-1 in the return match played at Blackbaud Stadium. Charleston travels to Seattle on September 1 for the second game of the 2006 series.
The Battery squad should be bolstered by the return of Omar Daley and Shane Crawford ahead of Thursday night's game. Crawford and Daley have been in the UK on international duty with Jamaica and missed Charleston's last two matches. Veteran goalkeeper Dusty Hudock is also expected to be available for selection after recovering from a knee injury sustained during the Battery's season opening win versus the Virginia Beach Mariner (04/.29/06).

Battery heads south for two game series with the Islanders
The game versus Seattle is the Battery's first of three this week. Charleston leaves Friday for a two-match back-to-back series with the Puerto Rico Islanders. The Battery plays Puerto Rico at 8 PM Saturday night and also at 5 PM on Sunday afternoon. Both games can be heard live in Charleston on CNN 1450 AM.

Armstrong named to USL First Division Team of the Week
Midfielder Stephen Armstrong has been named to the USL First Division Team of the Week following his two-goal performance in last Saturday's 3-2 loss in Atlanta. Armstrong converted a goal-mouth scramble in the first half and scored from a direct free-kick in the second.
