Battery takes on Islanders in regular season finale

Charleston, SC. The Charleston Battery takes on the Puerto Rico Islanders Friday night at Blackbaud Stadium; gates open at 6:30 PM with kick off set for 8:00 PM ($8 - $15, 971-GOAL / www.charlestonbattery.com). The game is the Battery's regular season finale and is also the fourth match between Charleston and Puerto Rico in 2007; the Islanders lead the series with two wins, the first game ended in a tie.

The Battery enters the game hoping to snap a five game losing streak that stretches back to August 14. Charleston (8-14-5, 29 points) is in 10th position heading into the final weekend's games but could finish as high as 8th; the top eight teams advance to the post-season.

To make the playoffs the Battery needs to win on Friday combined with the Carolina RailHawks earning no more than 2 points from its remaining two games (09/06 @ Minnesota & 09/08 @ California).

The Puerto Rico Islanders (10-8-9, 39 points) enter the game in 6th position in the USL First Division and are already qualified for the 2007 post-season. This is also Puerto Rico's final game of the regular season.

Hall of Fame night / Fireworks

It's Hall of Fame Night at Blackbaud Stadium on Friday presented by the Post and Courier and McCrady's with two inductions at half time. The game is being broadcast live on FOX Soccer Channel and the first 1000 fans through the turnstiles will receive a free FOX Soccer Channel / Charleston Battery rally towel; immediately following the match there will be a fireworks display.
