FC Dallas update

Dallas Forward Abe Thompson scored the lone goal of the game in stoppage time at the end of the match. FC Dallas takes on the Colorado Rapids at home this Saturday before traveling to Blackbaud Stadium for next Wednesday's US Open Cup fourth round match versus the Charleston Battery.

Two FC Dallas players have been selected to the MLS All-Star game; midfielders Richard Mulroney and Ronnie O'Brien were named to the MLS All-Star Team that will take on two-time English Premier League champions Chelsea in the 2006 Sierra Mist MLS All-Star Game. The 2006 MLS All-Star Game will be played at TOYOTA PARK in Bridgeview, Ill. at 6:30 p.m. (ET) on Saturday, August 5 and will be aired live on ESPN. This is the third All-Star selection for both players.

FC Dallas acquired Brazilian midfielder Marcelo Saragosa and former SMU forward Alex Smith in roster moves last week. Saragosa's rights were acquired from the Los Angeles Galaxy in exchange for the Hoops natural second round pick in the 2007 MLS Supplemental Draft. FCD acquired the rights to Smith from the Kansas City Wizards in exchange for the team's natural fourth round pick in the 2007 MLS Supplemental Draft.

The Battery has played two previous games in this year's US Open Cup defeating the Sonoma County Sol 1-0 (June 28) and the Portland Timbers 3-1 (July 12). Charleston has twice advanced to the semi-final stage of the Cup (1999 & 2004); no non-MLS team has won the US Open Cup since 1999 when Rochester defeated Major League Soccer's Colorado Rapids.
