Battery Adds Two Players from Vancouver Whitecaps

Charleston, SC. The Charleston Battery has received midfielder Ben Fisk and defender/midfielder Emmanuel Adjetey from the Vancouver Whitecaps Premier Development League (PDL) squad on season-long loans for 2013. Adjetey is pending USSF approval.

"Ben has been one of the top young players we have had come through our Residency program and Emmanuel is a raw talent who we are interested in seeing further development," said Martin Rennie, Whitecaps FC head coach. "Playing minutes is vital for both of these young players. They are in a great environment with the Charleston Battery organization, so we're really excited to see how they progress."

Fisk, 20, joined the Whitecaps FC Residency program in August 2010 after being a member of the club's Prospects program. Last season, the 5-foot-10, 165-pound winger was named to the PDL's All-Western Conference Team after registering four goals and one assist in 11 league appearances for Whitecaps FC's U-23 side. Fisk was also a key member of the 'Caps United States Soccer Development Academy (USSDA) side that made it to the championship match, finishing the year with 14 goals in 32 appearances.

Adjetey, 24, joined Whitecaps FC's MLS side for preseason training in February and played in three preseason matches, as well as one reserve match. The 5-foot-7, 155-pound outside back signed with Vancouver's U-23 USL PDL side on Tuesday, April 9, from International Allies FC of Ghana's Division One League.

The Charleston Battery home opener is set for this Saturday, April 20 vs. Antigua Barracuda FC at Blackbaud Stadium. Gates open at 6 PM - kick off 7:30 PM ($10 - $18, 843-971-4625 / www.charlestonbattery.com ).
