
Battery acquires Luke Kreamalmeyer in trade with Portland Timbers

Charleston, SC. The Charleston Battery has acquired 2006 USL All-League First Team midfielder Luke Kreamalmeyer from the Portland Timbers in exchange for defender Tim Karalexis pending USSF approval. Kreamalmeyer spent the last two seasons with the Timbers scoring 9 goals and adding 3 assists in 50 games played. Karalexis leaves Charleston after three seasons with the Battery; he played 78 games recording 4 assists.
Luke Kreamalmeyer began his pro career in 2005 with MLS's Real Salt Lake; he played 6 games and recorded 1 assist. In 2006 Kreamalmeyer, 5-9, 155 lbs., 26 yrs., joined the Portland Timbers and enjoyed a break-out year leading the team in scoring with 8 goals and 16 points and was voted to the USL First Division All-League First Team.
In 2007 Kreamalmeyer played 26 games with Portland scoring 1 goal and adding 3 assists as the Timbers advanced to the USL First Division semifinals. Before turning pro Kreamalmeyer was a four-year starter at Bradley University.

USL Men's Player Showcase presented by Umbro
The second annual USL Men's Player Showcase presented by Umbro will be hosted by the Charleston Battery of the USL First Division at Blackbaud Stadium December 16-18 in Charleston, South Carolina. The 2006 event drew in more than 600 applicants from the top collegiate talent in USL's Premier Development League while catching the eye of English clubs Chelsea, Fulham and Crystal Palace.
