Bats Silenced In Shutout Loss

FORT MYERS, Fla. - The Fort Myers Miracle were shutout, 8-0, by the Jupiter Hammerheads on Sunday afternoon at Hammond Stadium.

Michael Helman's fifth inning double proved to be the only hit Fort Myers would muster off Trevor Rogers. The former first round pick (#13 overall) in 2017 tossed six scoreless innings. Rogers (2-6) walked two and struck out nine.

Trevor Larnach singled in the ninth to extend his hitting streak to eight games.

The Hammerheads broke a scoreless game in the fifth. With two on and one out, Angel Reyes singled to second to knock in a run before Gunnar Schubert drove in two with a single to right to give Jupiter a 3-0 lead.

Still leading 3-0 in the eighth, Jupiter broke the game open with a five run frame. With a run already in, and the bases loaded, Nick Fortes drilled a grand slam over the wall in left to make it 8-0 in favor of the visitors.

Edwar Colina started for the Miracle and surrendered three runs in seven innings. Colina (3-2) turned in his fifth straight quality start despite taking the loss. Calvin Faucher followed and allowed five runs in two innings.

Fort Myers currently sits in first place in the Florida State League South Division. The Miracle hold a 1.0 game lead over Bradenton and a 1.5 game lead over Palm Beach.

The Miracle open their final series of the first half on Monday afternoon in Tampa with a doubleheader against the Tarpons, the Class-A Advanced affiliate of the New York Yankees. Game one starts at 4:30 p.m.
