Baseball America Announces Twins 2009 Top Prospects

In the latest issue of Baseball America, six former Snappers were ranked in the '09 Top Ten prospects for the Minnesota Twins. Ben Revere, Wilson Ramos, Jose Mijares, Danny Valencia, Anthony Swarzak and Shooter Hunt all made the list in baseball's premier magazine. The complete listing is as follows:

Ben Revere finished the 2008 season hitting .375 with 17 doubles, 10 triples, 51 runs and 44 stolen bases. He also sported a .433 on-base percentage and a .497 slugging percentage. His batting average was tops in all of minor league baseball in just his first full-season as a professional. Revere was the Twins' first round pick (28th overall pick) in the 2007 First-Year Player draft.

Wilson Ramos played for the Snappers during the 2007 season, hitting .291 with 17 doubles, eight home runs and 42 RBIs. Ramos had 85 hits while sporting an on-base percentage of .345. Wilson was signed by the Twins as a non-drafted free agent in July of 2004.

Jose Mijares spent 20 games as a Snapper during the 2005 season, sporting a 6-3 record and a 4.31 ERA. He struck out 78 batters in 54.1 innings of work while posting a WHIP of .219. Mijares was signed by Twins as a non-drafted free agent in March of 2002.

Danny Valencia manned third base for Beloit during the 2007 season, hitting .302 with 15 doubles, 11 homers and 35 RBIs. Valencia also was selected to the Midwest League All-Star Team before his promotion to the Fort Myers Miracle. Danny was the Twins' 19th round pick in the 2006 First-Year Player draft.

Anthony Swarzak pitched for Beloit during the 2005 season, posting a 9-5 record and a 4.04 ERA in 18 starts. The right-hander also struck out 101 batters in just 91.1 innings of work. Swarzak was selected by the Twins in the second round of the 2004 First-Year Player draft.

Shooter Hunt played seven games for the Snappers during the 2008 season, posting a 1-4 record and a 5.46 ERA in 31.1 innings of work. Hunt also had 34 strikeouts and posted a WHIP of 1.69. He was the Twins' 2008 supplemental first round pick (31st overall) out of the University of Tulane.

Chris Parmelee has spent parts of the last three seasons (2006 - 2008) with the Snappers after being drafted by the Twins in the first round (20th overall) of the 2006 First-Year Player draft. Chris hit .239 with 14 home runs and 49 RBIs for the Snappers last year in just 69 games. The left-handed outfielder injured his hand half way through the season and was on the disabled list for the rest of the year.

Bradley Tippett played for the Snappers during the 2008 season, going 2-1 with a 4.24 ERA in 17 innings of work. The right-hander struck out 15 while posting a WHIP of 1.41. Tippett was signed by the Twins as a non-drafted free agent in January of 2006.

Yancarlos Ortiz played shortstop for Beloit during parts of the 2006 and 2007 season after signing with the Twins as a non-drafted free agent in March of 2003. Heading into this season, Yanny had a career batting average of .247 with 27 doubles, 140 runs and 76 RBIs. Ortiz also sported a career .336 on-base percentage prior to the 2008 season.
