Piscataway, NJ (July 12, 2007) - In front of 2,536 fans at Yurcak Field, the Philadelphia Barrage defeated Eastern Conference rivals the New Jersey Pride 12-7 to break their two-game losing streak on the road. 2006 Goalie of the Year, Brian "Doc" Dougherty was named the Bud Light MVP for his 20 saves, only allowing seven goals past, which is the lowest of the season.

New Jersey's Scott Urick started the scoring off early for the Pride off a Chris Unterstein assist. Philadelphia's Roy Colsey tied the game up three minutes later, unassisted, followed by a Justin Smith goal off a great pass through the center from Matt Striebel. Attackman Jesse Hubbard from New Jersey tied the game at two for the Pride midway through the second quarter. Ian Dingman, the attackman from Navy who made his MLL debut tonight for the Barrage, scored his first professional goal to give Philly another one-goal lead. With a great run through the midfield by the Barrage's Joe Ceglia, he got the ball to Ryan Boyle who found an open Dingman who put another one by Jersey's Rob Scherr. With less than two minutes to play in the first half, Kevin Cassese scored his first two-point goal of the season for the Barrage, giving his team a comfortable four-goal lead going into halftime.

It was a defensive battle at both ends; neither teams goalkeepers allowing a goal in for 10 minutes of the third quarter. Kevin Boland finally broke down the Barrage defense scoring his first goal of the night for the Pride with just under four minutes left in the quarter. After stripping the ball from New Jersey's Conor Ford, long pole defensive Kyle Sweeney scored his fifth goal of the season for the Barrage, giving his team back their four-goal lead. In a heated fight for the ball at the end of the third quarter, Boyle recorded his first penalty of the season for a slash of the Pride's goalkeeper Scherr. Barrage face off specialist, Andy Corno, won the opening face off of the final quarter to dump the ball off to Boyle who scored his first goal of the evening only seven seconds into the fourth. The Barrage came alive in the fourth with a goal from Colsey, his second of the night. Desperately trying to get his team back in the game, Dan Chemotti broke Philadelphia's three-goal run with his first goal of the game with just under eight minutes left to play. The transition to the MLL was no struggle for Dingman, who scored his third goal of the night at the seven-minute mark off a Michael Springer feed. Trying to show that the Pride are still fighting as the fourth quarter gets close to an end, newcomer Merrick Thompson scored his first MLL goal for New Jersey; followed by Hubbard's second goal of the night. Barrage midfielder Striebel scored a two-point goal with only eight seconds left on the clock giving the Barrage a six-goal lead. As the clock ran out, New Jersey had one last attempt to score and Urick put it past Dougherty to cut their deficit to five with one second left. The final buzzer blew and the Barrage won their third straight game, 12 to 7.

Philadelphia will face the Denver Outlaws on Saturday, July 21 for a rematch of the 2006 Championship game. The game is set for 9:30 PM eastern time.
