Jacksonville Barracudas News Release
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Coming off their first loss of the season last Saturday in Miami, the Jacksonville Barracudas (2-1, 4 pts.) prepare for their final game of a four game road trip to start the WHA2 season on Sunday in Macon.
"We expect Macon game to be very similar to Miami," Head Coach Ron Duguay said. "Macon is a skilled team that will score a lot of goals. They can be very dangerous on the power play."
Macon (2-1, 4 pts.) is second in the league in goals scored (17). The Trax rank fourth on the power play converting 2-18 while giving up two shorthanded goals. They also rank third in the WHA2 in penalty killing (88.23%).
"We need to shut Macon down defensively," Duguay explained.
The Barracudas are led by center Kory Baker who's tied for fifth in the league in points (6) and tied for the lead in assists (5). Goaltender Brandon Snee is second in the league in minutes played (160:47) and second in goals against average (2.99).
"We have enough skilled players on our team to score enough goals to win," Duguay added.
The Barracudas will be a part of the Official Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for the Jacksonville Veteran's Memorial Arena this Saturday from 11am-4pm. Mayor John Peyton will cut the ribbon while flanked by the Barracudas players. At 11:45, the Barracudas will take the ice for an exhibition skate in full home uniforms. The event is free and open to the public.
The Barracudas Home Opening Weekend Celebration is Friday November 28th vs. Miami Manatees. Face-off time is 7:05 with fireworks and more. The JEDC Sports and Entertainment Board are sponsoring the first sporting event ever in the brand new Arena.
On Saturday November 29th, the Barracudas face the Macon Trax with a special face-off time of 12:35. After the game, use your ticket for a post-game open skate from 3-5 presented by Comcast.
Single game tickets available Friday, November 21st through Ticketmaster. Group, corporate and season ticket packages available by calling the Barracudas office at 904-367-1-ICE.
