Barracudas Add Eight to the Roster

HIDALGO, Texas - The Rio Grande Valley Barracudas have added eight players to the 2017-2018 MASL Season. The players are goalkeeper Fidel Garcia, defenders Miguel Rocha, Raul Salazar, Emmanuel Garcia, midfielder Rodrigo Tinoco, and forwards Carlos Portales, Oscar Ventura, and Austin Tom. As per league and team policy, terms of agreements are disclosed.
Garcia is from Matamoros, Mexico and has played with the Barracudas during two seasons. Fidel appeared as a goalkeeper in 20 games while amassing 1,034 while making 186 saves.
Raul Salazar is also no stranger to the Barracudas uniform as he was the first head coach in franchise history and a player as well. He appeared in 28 games as a defender having one goal.
Miguel Rocha is in his first professional season of arena soccer and was signed after the team's tryout in late July as a defender.
Emmanuel Garcia joins the Barracudas after playing in Laredo Community College. Garcia as midfielder had four assists while at Laredo which made him the seventh best passer in the conference. Garcia played at Simon Rivera High School in Brownsville and will be in his rookie season.
Rodrigo Tinoco is a native of Michoacan, Mexico and has been a part of the Barracudas as well. Tinoco has participated in 37 games while scoring 14 goals and providing five assists in two seasons with the Barracudas.
Carlos Portales is from Ciudad Victoria, Mexico and also been a part of the Barracudas organization and played for Saltillo Rancho Seco as well. Portales as a forward has appeared in 11 games for both teams while scoring a goal.
Oscar Ventura is a forward that returns to the Barracudas having appeared in 42 games for team while scoring 30 goals and proving 15 helpers during the two seasons. Ventura is a native of Matamoros, Mexico.
Austin Tom arrives to the Rio Grande Valley having played for the Syracuse Silver Knights. The native of Buffalo, New York and forward appeared in 19 games in two seasons while scoring three goals and one assist.
The RGV Barracudas season opener is on the road October 28th against El Paso. The home opener is November 4th as the Barracudas host the Florida Tropics with the kick off at 7:05 PM.
