BIRMINGHAM, AL --The Birmingham Barons captured Game 1 of the Western Division Championship Series with a 3-2 win over the West Tenn Diamond Jaxx, Wednesday night at the Hoover Met. Darron Ingram connected on a 3-run home run in the first inning off of Jaxx starter Jon Leicester to give the Barons the early lead. Delvis Lantigua recorded the victory for Birmingham. Lantigua carried a no-hitter in to the sixth inning before allowing a single to Brendan Harris and a two-run home run to Jon Hamilton. Lantigua's final line was: 6.0ip, 2h, 2r, 2er, 1bb, 6k. The Barons bullpen combined to throw the final three inning and allowed only one hit to preserve to win. The Barons now lead the best of five series 1 game to 0 with Game 2 tomorrow night at 6:30 PM at the Hoover Met. Josh Stewart will take the mound for the Barons against Matt Bruback. Gates open at 5:00 PM.
