Barons Sign Goaltender Ty Rimmer to AHL Contract

Oklahoma City - The Oklahoma City Barons have signed goaltender Ty Rimmer to an American Hockey League contract, general manager Bill Scott announced Tuesday. Rimmer, a native of Edmonton, Alberta, last played with the Lethbridge Hurricanes of the Western Hockey League.

Rimmer broke a 24-year old Hurricanes record for saves in a single season during 2012-13 with 2,106. He played 65 games for Lethbridge and recorded a 24-30-10 record with a 3.19 goals against average and .912 save percentage. Rimmer made one appearance with the AHL's Manchester Monarchs last season.

Rimmer previously played with the Tri-City Americans, Prince George Courgars and Brandon Wheat Kings of the WHL. His career WHL goals against average is 3.00 with a .910 save percentage and 4,619 career saves. He went 74-65-14 with 1o shutouts and 9,081 minutes played.

Hockey season gets underway in Oklahoma City Friday evening, Sept. 27 with the NHL Showcase presented by Mercy. The Edmonton Oilers take on the Dallas Stars in a preseason game at the Cox Convention Center.

The Oklahoma City Barons open the 2013-14 regular season Friday, October 4 against the Charlotte Checkers at 7 p.m. Tickets remain for both games. For more information, call 232-GOAL.
