Oklahoma City Barons News Release

CEDAR PARK, Texas - Laurent Brossoit stopped 36 shots and Ryan Hamilton assisted on two goals for the Oklahoma City Barons, who held off the Texas Stars for a 3-2 win Sunday at the Cedar Park Center.

After the Stars cut Oklahoma City's lead to 3-2 on a Greg Rallo power play goal early in the third period, Brossoit went on to save 16 shots in the frame to preserve the Barons' lead. Texas outshot the Barons 38-28 for the game, with nearly half of the Stars' shots coming in the final frame.

Ryan Hamilton assisted on the Barons' first two goals to increase his point streak to six games.

Skating with 17 of the customary 18 players because of an injury to alternate captain Matt Ford, the Barons took the lead at the 18:44 mark of the first period when Hamilton took a Martin Gernat pass near the right side of the Texas net and shuffled the puck to a wide-open Andrew Miller on the left side of the crease, where Miller chipped the puck past Stars goalie Jussi Rynnas.

Thirty-eight seconds later, the Stars answered when Brossoit lost his position in the Oklahoma City crease after blocking a shot from Rallo, and Derek Hulak grabbed the rebound and chipped the puck into the vacant Barons net.

Following a high-sticking penalty to the Stars' Taylor Peters at the 7:57 mark of the second period, the Barons grabbed a 2-1 lead when Hamilton grabbed the puck off a Josh Winquist faceoff win in the Texas zone and slid a pass to Brad Hunt, who fired a one timer from the point past Rynnas.

At the 18:26 mark of the second, the Barons extended their lead to 3-1 when Jordan Oesterle sent a pass to the right circle, where Jujhar Khaira sent a wrist shot that sailed over the blocker of Rynnas.

Fifty-two seconds into the third period and with the Barons shorthanded, Derek Meech fired a slap shot from the point that Rallo deflected in the low slot, causing the puck to change directions and glide over the outstretched glove of Brossoit to cut the Barons' lead to 3-2.

With the win, Brossoit improved to 14-7-2 and won for the first time in five games.

The Barons' next game is Friday, Feb. 13, when the club travels to Rosemont, IL for a 7 p.m. start against the Chicago Wolves at Allstate Arena.
