Birmingham Barons News Release
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Birmingham Barons celebrate Independence Day July 4 at Regions Field and will wear special-made Stars & Stripes hats for their 6 p.m. game against the Tennessee Smokies.
The solid-red cap features Birmingham's iconic Old English "B" on the front with the American flag complimenting the two front panels. The hats will be available for purchase beginning July 4 in the Barons Sports Depot at Regions Field. Only a limited number of hats are available.
The game-worn hats will also be auctioned off, and the proceeds will benefit Welcome Back Veterans - a program helping returning soldiers suffering from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. All hat purchases will benefit the foundation.
Welcome Back Veterans provides PTSD treatment to veterans and their families in a public/private partnership with the Veterans Administration, Department of Defense, Major League Baseball Charities, the McCormick Foundation, the Entertainment Industry Foundation and world renowned Centers of Excellence at University Hospitals throughout the country.

"In honor of both past and present military members, Birmingham will wear the Stars & Stripes hats during our game against the Lookouts of July 4, along with our camouflage game jerseys."
