Lancaster Stormers News Release
Lenny DiNardo, who pitched for the 2004 World Champion Boston Red Sox and has six big league seasons under his belt, has been signed to pitch for the Lancaster Barnstormers in 2013, it was announced today by manager Butch Hobson.
The left-hander appeared in 22 games out of the Red Sox bullpen in 2004 before an injury cut his season short. He was not involved in a decision and had a 4.23 ERA over the course of the campaign. He pitched parts of two more seasons with Boston before moving on to Oakland and Kansas City.
With the A's in 2007, DiNardo joined the starting rotation in late May and posted an 8-10 record with a 4.11 ERA for the season as a whole. He threw shutout baseball for six or more innings in 20 of his starts and had eight quality starts overall. The Florida native won five consecutive decisions from July 18 to August 19.
Overall, DiNardo has logged 94 games and 257 innings at the Major League level.
DiNardo, 33, will spend his first stint in Lancaster. He previously appeared in the Atlantic League as a member of the Long Island Ducks for three starts in 2011, posting a 2-1 record before signing back with Oakland.
"Lenny is a left-hander with a cutter that will play well in our ballpark," said Hobson. "He is friends with a number of our players and will be a good fit in our clubhouse, too."
In another move, the Barnstormers have sold the contract of right-hander Logan Williamson to the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs. Lancaster's roster currently stands at 13 for the 2013 season.
The Lancaster Barnstormers are entering their ninth season as a member of the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball. Home games are played at Clipper Magazine Stadium in downtown Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Please call 717.509.HITS (4487) or visit LancasterBarnstormers.com for more information.
