The Ice Bats quickly lit the lamp as forward Dallas Anderson scored on a wrist shot from the slot just 2:26 into the game. A little over two minutes later Austin was at it again. Forward John McNabb was stopped on his initial shot, but he pounced on the rebound and made it 2-0 Ice Bats at 4:40. Immediately after the McNabb goal Bucks head coach Terry Ruskowski called timeout to settle down Laredo. The Bucks began to turn the chances in their favor, but were unable to get the puck by Barnes. Laredo out shot Austin 16-8 in the frame.
In the second period the Ice Bats out shot the Bucks 9-3, but neither team was able to score.
In the third period the Bucks managed eight shots, but Barnes stopped them all to complete the shutout. FINAL SCORE Austin 2, Laredo 0.
Barnes is a perfect 5-0-0 at home and is 6-3-0 overall as he turned aside 27 Bucks shots for the shutout. David Guerrera allowed two goals on 24 shots taking the hard luck loss to fall to 3-5-1. The Bucks were 0-1 on the power play, while the Ice Bats were 0-3.
